Call 863.333.0568 to speak with Lawyer, Susan J. Best about your "Power of Attorney" legal needs.

BEST LAW, PLLC, understands the importance of protecting our clients' dignity, privacy, and ability to control their own lives. Powers of attorney and living wills allow individuals to delegate decisions of importance which involve medical care and financial considerations to someone whom they trust.

This person, also known as an Agent, may perform specific authorized acts on behalf of the principal. These acts may range from:

  • Dealing with bank records and finances.

  • Signing checks for specific important matters.

  • Make medical & healthcare decisions in the the event of diminished capacity of the principle.

Powers of Attorney may specifically designate broad authority or limit authority depending upon the circumstance and situation. Make sure your rights are protected and well defined in the event a "power of attorney" must be administered.

Durable Powers of Attorney

In the case of incapacity of the principle, a durable power of attorney allows you to prepare for the possibility that you may be unable to manage your financial, medical, or personal affairs. A durable power of attorney also may protect your interests in the event you are injured and loose consciousness or go into a coma. Another important function of a durable Power of Attorney is to help avoid a future guardianship proceeding in the event of incapacitation. A guardianship is a Court proceeding in which the Court appoints someone to handle your personal or financial affairs.

Powers of Attorney for Medical Care

A Power of Attorney for medical / healthcare permits you to appoint an agent to make medical decisions for you, in the event that you are incapacitated or otherwise unable to make medical decisions. A Medical Power of Attorney is important because it it allows you to maintain control over who makes medical decisions on your behalf, rather than relying on hospitals or their general policies.

Powers of Attorney for Financial or Property Transactions

You may also utilize a Power of Attorney to allow you agent to assist in handling your finances in the event that you are physically or mentally unable to. If you are ever incapacitated for any reason, a Power of Attorney is an essential estate planning tool for your financial well being. We cannot stress enough the importance of drafting a power of attorney because once you are incapacitated, it is already too late.

BEST LAW, PLLC is well equipped to handle all facets of "Power of Attorney" preparation, drafting, and amending, as well as other estate law needs.
